Antoine Wright - Floral Designer

by Infinite on March 14, 2007

The sports world is abuzz after Antoine Wright, a three-year star and first-round pick of the New Jersey Nets in the NBA draft two years ago, made some controversial comments about how he was treated as an athlete at Texas A&M in an interview for HBO’s Costas NOW with Bob Costas that aired Tuesday night.
When asked about a floral design class he took as an Aggie, Wright said, “It’s not as easy as it sounds to be honest with you.” Right on, Antoine!
In an inteview with the Houston Chronicle, A&M’s Athletic Director, Bill Byrne, defended the academic emphasis of the current athletic program.
Well, we’d like to defend the academic excellence of the A&M Floristry program, the Benz School of Floral Design. Among the very best and most respected in the US, Jim Johnson and his department educate top quality professional florists from across the US. The school’s rich history in the floral industry is renown.
We challenge Bob Costas to take an A&M Floral Design class and report back on his experience.
We florists guarantee he’ll have a whole ‘nother appreciation for what it takes to learn to be a floral designer.
