Quiet days lead to quiet moments

Arriving early to work today, nature abounds even right on route 9 in Barnegat!
Meet one of the chipmunks that routinely scamper through our garden (much to my husband's dismay - he just doesn't find them as charming as I do!)
Too cute! This little one plops himself right under our birdfeeder, hoovering up seeds as they fall, like a little dustbuster.

And THIS little one - OMG! I was watering our garden, and happened upon what I thought was an english walnut, and wondering how it got there considering the only trees are oversized cedars & a tulip tree.

I scooped him up and set him in a plastic bin with some fresh water & leaves for shelter. Later today, I'll take him to the ravine off of 7th street in Waretown, turtle haven, back in those shady woods. He is all of 2" long - teeny baby...

Spiderwort, and heuchera, my favorite brown leaf. God, I love summer, when we can walk out and harvest some of our prettiest garden blooms for fresh arrangements.

We'll be closing at 2pm today, for the Memorial Day holiday. Take some time today to remember .... we owe so much. Remember, remember!
